Stjärnmatta på ljus botten 157 x 217 cm
Unique rag rug flat designed by Märta Måås-Fjetterström in 1934. Handwoven at Märta Måås-Fjetterström AB by Eva Forslund in 2004.
In addition to the many noble and prestigious rugs created at the MMF studio during Märta Måås-Fjetterström’s lifetime, there was also a significant production of humble rag rugs. Rag rugs have a deep-rooted tradition in Swedish rural life, where nearly every household owned a loom to weave runners from worn sheets, shirts, and other textiles. Märta Måås carried this tradition forward, but with larger looms and professional weavers, the studio was able to create pieces with greater complexity in both size and design when desired.
The Stjärnmatta was produced in a range of sizes and colorways. In 2004, the studio chose to reweave the Stjärnmatta as an experiment; however, it was never introduced into the made-to-order collection.

MATERIALS AND CARE
The rug is woven using rags on a cotton warp.
To ensure even wear, rotate the rug periodically. Regular vacuuming is beneficial, but avoid vacuuming the braided edges and refrain from using a vacuum with rotating brushes. The studio team is ready to assist with any care that might be needed in the future.
