I wanted to get away from the figuration that is almost always present in my paintings and enter into a new mindset while still allowing my artistic soul to be present. Designing a rug is completely different to painting a painting. For me, the utility function is crucial. I love the fact that there is art you walk on, put furniture on, art that soundproofs, provides warmth on cold draughty days, decorates the room and makes us happy.
