Hästhagen 221 x 364 cm
Vintage knotted rya rug designed by Märta Måås-Fjettersström in 1923. Handwoven in 1936 at Märta Måås-Fjetterström, Båstad, Sweden by Elsa Jansson and Inger Ahlman. Marked MMF.
The rug comes with a certificate of authenticity.
This rug was a special commission in 1936 by George N. Jeppson of Worcester, Massachusetts, USA. The Jeppson home housed a significant collection of Swedish art and design. Märta Måås-Fjetterström collaborated with Mr. Jeppson to create unique variations of her designs, including this Hästhagen, which features a sand-colored backdrop—departing from the usual white tones traditionally used for Hästhagen.
This rug is currently on display in our Stockholm showroom.
MATERIALS AND CARE
The rug is hand-knotted in wool on a linen warp. Wool is naturally stain-resistant and should not be washed too frequently, as this can strip the natural oils that protect the fibers.
To ensure even wear, rotate the rug periodically. Regular vacuuming is beneficial, but avoid vacuuming the braided edges and refrain from using a vacuum with rotating brushes.
MADE-TO-ORDER
